How to Calculate Customs Duty in Pakistan Before You Import

Updated October 25, 2026 · admin

The basic idea

Customs charges in Pakistan are worked out on the assessed value of your goods. Each product has an HS code, and the code decides the rate of customs duty. Other taxes are then added on top.

What is usually added

  • Customs duty, based on the HS code
  • Additional customs duty or regulatory duty on some goods
  • Sales tax, charged on value plus duties
  • Income tax collected at import (withholding), which depends on the importer status
  • Port and clearing charges, which are separate from government taxes

How to estimate your cost

Start with the invoice value, add freight and insurance (this gives the customs value in most cases), then apply the rates for your HS code. Rates, valuation rulings and exemptions change often, so always check the current position before you commit to a purchase.

Common mistakes

  • Using the wrong HS code, which changes the duty and can delay the cargo
  • Under-invoicing, which customs can challenge and re-value
  • Ignoring port charges, demurrage and trucking in the landed cost

How we help

Send us your invoice and product details. We confirm the HS code, give an estimate and file the GD through WeBOC when the cargo arrives.
